Catalogue the record library at home

Catalogue the records in the house, including the ones under the shelf that you had forgotten. ViniVault is a list of that pile.

Walk the shelf once

Take one crate at a time. Add the artist and the title, then move on. A finished crate is better than a perfect first record and an abandoned second box.

When the library is searchable, you stop buying duplicates, and you can see which decades you actually own rather than the decades you think you own.

Include the records under the shelf and the singles in the cupboard. A home library that only lists the front row is a photograph, not a catalogue.

A pace you will finish

Ten records you know well are enough to see whether the shelf in the app matches the shelf in the room. If it does, do the next crate. Condition and price can wait for the copies where you know them.

Put the icon on your home screen before you put the records away, so the catalogue is easy to reopen. A list you have to hunt for will not get the next crate.

How this works in ViniVault

Add Records is the way in: search, barcode, or typing a record the search misses. The shelf shows sleeves as you go, so you can see what is already catalogued.

The free shelf holds 100 records while you find out whether you will keep using it. Pro is £1.99 a month and removes that cap. The records you have already added stay either way.

Questions

What if I have more than 100 records?
The free shelf holds 100 records. Pro is £1.99 a month and removes that cap, including a Discogs import that would pass the line.
Do I need to catalogue every record in the house on the first day?
No. Finish one crate. The rest of the library can follow in later passes.
