ViniVault/Phone

Use your vinyl catalogue at a record fair

A fair is the test of a catalogue. If you cannot check a record in a queue, the list is at home. ViniVault is meant to be in your pocket.

Before you go

Sign in on the phone and add the icon to the home screen the night before. Glance at the wishlist. Put a price ceiling in the note on any want that has one, so you are not inventing it at the table.

Buy first if the crate is busy, and add the record the same day so the price you paid is still true. A price you type beats a market guide. A price you forget becomes whatever the guide says later.

If you cannot check a record while you are holding it, you are relying on memory. Memory drops the B-sides and keeps the famous titles.

Three jobs, in order

Do I own it? is the check before you pay. The wishlist is the shopping list. Add Records is for the record in the bag, by search, barcode, or by hand, when you have a connection.

Discover also lists record fairs from a UK postcode or town, within about ten miles, if you are still deciding where to go. The list of fairs is not your shelf. Your shelf is the account.

How this works in ViniVault

Open the app before you go into the hall, while you still have a signal. At the table, search the shelf and the wants. Collect a purchase from the wishlist so it stops being a want.

Charge the phone. A catalogue you cannot open is a paper list you did not bring.

Questions

Can I add a record while I am still at the fair?
Yes, if the phone has a connection. Search, scan a barcode, or type it in. If the queue is moving, add it the same day at home.
What if the hall has no signal?
Open ViniVault before you go in, so the shelf is already on screen. Add the new records when you are back on a connection, with the prices you paid.
