Back up a catalogue of your vinyl
The records are the objects. The catalogue is the list you will want if you ever have to describe them. ViniVault keeps that list on your account, and you can export it.

Two copies of the list
Signing in on a second device is one copy. A CSV file saved somewhere else is the other. Take the file after a big adding session, not six months later when you have forgotten.
A backup of titles is not a backup of the vinyl. It will not replace a lost record. It is what you show an insurer, a remover, or yourself after a clear-out, when memory is no longer good enough.
Sleeves in the app help you recognise a cover. The file is the names, which is what a list is for. Keep both. A camera roll of jackets, with no titles, is hard to search and easy to lose.
When to take the copy
After you finish a crate, after a Discogs import, and before a house move. A backup from the day the shelf was half done will not describe the shelf you have now.
Store the file somewhere other than the same phone. The point of a second copy is that one accident does not take both.
How this works in ViniVault
The shelf is stored with your account, so another phone can open it by signing in. Export CSV from Account when you want a file. Sleeves stay with the records in the app.
The export includes every record in the vault, whether you found it by search, scanned a barcode, or typed it in. It is downloaded while you are signed in. It is not a public page.
Questions
- Does export include the records I added by hand?
- Yes. The CSV is the collection in the vault, however each record was added.
- If I lose my phone, do I lose the catalogue?
- No. Sign in on another phone or a computer with the same account. Export a CSV as well if you want a file that does not depend on the account.
