Move a notebook vinyl catalogue into an app
A notebook got you this far. An app is what you can search in a shop. ViniVault is where those handwritten rows can go.

Copy a page, not the whole book
Transcribe one page a night. Check the pressing when the record is in the room, not from memory of your handwriting. A notebook line that says 'blue label' is a clue. The vinyl is the proof.
Keep the notebook until the shelf in the app matches it. Then the notebook is the backup, not the master. Throw it away only when you would be happy to lose it, which is a higher bar than finishing the typing.
Copy the comments that matter into the note on the record: the shop, the fault, the person who gave it to you. A catalogue that keeps the titles and drops the margins has kept the index and lost the book.
One page is a finished job
Search the artist and the title, save the pressing that matches, and tick the line in the notebook. If the search is wrong, add the record by hand and write the catalogue number from the page, or from the label if the page is vague.
Prices in the notebook can be typed onto the record. A typed price is the one the total uses. Leave it blank if the notebook never had a figure, rather than inventing one to look complete.
How this works in ViniVault
Add each line by search or by hand. Export a CSV from Account later if you want a fresh file, and keep that file with the notebook until you trust the shelf.
The free shelf holds 100 records. A notebook thicker than that needs Pro, at £1.99 a month, before the later pages will land. The pages you have already copied stay either way.
Questions
- Do I throw the notebook away?
- Not until you have checked the app against it. Then keep it, or export a file and store that. The app is the shelf you can search. The paper is the copy you already trusted.
- What if a line is illegible?
- Skip it until the record is in your hand. A guessed title becomes a wrong record, which is worse than a gap in the notebook.
