ViniVault/Discogs

A private shelf beside a Discogs collection

Discogs is public by nature. ViniVault is the private shelf for notes, prices, and the records you do not want on a profile.

Use each one for its job

Look up a pressing where the catalogue is public. Keep what you paid, who borrowed a record, and the wants you would rather not advertise in the vault.

A private shelf also suits collectors who never wanted a public collection page in the first place. You can identify records with public catalogues and still store the collection somewhere quiet.

The split is practical in a shop. Discogs is a good reference. Opening your whole public collection, with values attached, is a different thing from checking one title on your phone.

Each one keeps its own job

Discogs remains the place for the public catalogue and the marketplace. ViniVault remains the place for the shelf you search, the notes, the loan log, and a value guide that prefers the price you typed.

Nothing forces you to maintain both forever. Some people import once and then add new records only in ViniVault. Some people update both. The import will not keep them in step on its own.

How this works in ViniVault

Import the vinyl you want, or add records yourself. Notes and the price you paid stay on your account. They are not written back to Discogs.

Sign in on this page to open the vault. The guide you are reading is public. The shelf is not.
